I like a cut-on-contact head for bigger critters.

never shot an oryx, but for what its worth, blue wildebeest dont like slick trix!

you can see the exit hole in the pic. 37 yd shot. beest made it maybe 50-60 yds. complete pass thru. 100 grain magnum slick trick. 70# diamond black ice. 463 grain arrow total weight.

Diamond C does not allow mechanicals, so that narrows the field. Any of the big antelope are very resilient. Any of the fixed blades in a heavy arrow should get a pass thru, given the shoulder bone is not hit. Slick Tricks, Muzzy, Ultimate Steels, etc. Be prepared for a pretty lengthy tracking job on a great hit, so it is critical that your shot placement is correct.

Skylar will let you shoot Rage if you want to. He's always let me and the guys I hunt with use 'em.

I'll go the other way on this one. I would shoot a Rage 2 blade at one of them bad boys. Heck, my Rage 2 made it all the way through my buffalo (hair, hide, ribs, and lungs) at 32 yards, oryx can't be much tougher than a buffalo.

Probably most importantly though is to shoot a BH that YOU have CONFIDENCE in. That in and of itself plays a HUGE part in shooting.

I shot my Oryx a few months ago with a 2 blade rage. Shot was quartering from 42 yards and was a complete pass through. I shoot a Maxxis 31 at 65 lbs with Beman Bone Collector 400 grain arrows. He dropped in about 40 yards.

Shoot whatever you feel confident in. FB v Mech debate rages on, but at the end of the day, with heavy arrows, and a decent shot, you'll have no issues. Oryx have thick hides on the shoulders & neck, but they certainly aren't tanks. Their chest area is actually pretty narrow (really not much larger across than a big mule deer).

One thing I would say is if you make a marginal shot, give the animal PLENTY of time to get sick. If you get there adrenalin up and push them, they can go longer than you have time in your hunt. Also if wounded, don't mess around with it too much, they can be dangerous if they are too sick to run or backed into a corner, sure Skylar will know how to deal with them, they know how to use those horns.

I used Muzzy MX4 on mine 7 years ago. I didn't know about Tricks then, but I wouldn't hesitate to use a Slick Trick on one if I went after one again
