    question

I am a wildlife management student that just transferred to Texas A&M Kingsville... I am looking for a few things and could use any input.

    - i live very close to the coast where i can shoot redheads and pintails and i am wondering if ya'll know any farmers near kingsville or riviera that will let me duck hunt their fresh water pond where i can shoot puddle ducks?

    - I am also looking for a job as a hunting guide or extra help at a ranch... I have guided a few times but nothing real serious. I have hunted south tx almost my whole life and a lot of duck hunting experience.

    Any input will help thanks.

Sounds like you'll be living the life down in Kingsville! Enjoy school for the next few years, it will be the time of your life. Especially in a town where hunting & fishing is a lifestyle.
I considered going to TAMUK back when I was in high school. You're going to the best school in the field you're studying! Best wildlife program in the WORLD.

Put on a nice collared shirt and non-blue jean pants and take a ride into the area. I have found not asking somebody directly "Can I hunt in your pond" but asking indirectly "I'm a wildlife major who moved here and wonder if you know of anybody in the area that wants ducks taken out of their property?" is a little less direct with somebody you don't know.

It's like being in sales- it's all in the numbers. Ask 100 people and somebody will give you an appointment.

I was leaving my son's college town a few years back, and saw (I'm not kidding) a grind 10,000 geese working several rice checks on my drive to the interstate highway. I was on the phone with Wildman from TBH at the time . He said "go ask" and I knocked on a few doors, and when I found the diary next door had somebody home, introduced myself and asked- she thought for a few seconds and said, "sure, go tell my son Ron who's feeding the cows I said it's OK". Shot 3 snows in the last 15 minutes of shooting time. I still remember it every time I drive past the dairy. My son's sick of hearing the story.

You might check HERE for a job. There were some guide and ranch hand jobs listed.
