In my opinion hunt them anytime you can go.. Just matters how many snakes and bugs you want to put up with... or not...

The axis rut in summer... You can also find axis in hard antler year round.

The best thing to do would be to ask the outfitter you are going with. He should know his animals and when is the best time to hunt them.

As a rule of thumb ...

Rams have horns (so they don't shed) and their winter coats are usually fuller than a summer coat.

Blackbuck get darker sometimes by the season and dominantcy (is that even a word?).

Oryx are good all year long, as are most other antelope species.

You'll find axis in different stages of horn growth all year long.
Summer seems to be the time when most have hard horns.

Fallow, sika, and elk are pretty much in tune with whitetail antler schedules.

Exotic season runs from January 1st to December 31st!

Axis at the ranch i guide on will have hard horn in May-June then our second group will have hard horn later in the fall. Fallow are like whitetail except they rub out a few weeks sooner. Blackbuck are at there best color phase in late part of the year until around feb. If you have mature blackbucks. if they are 2 yrs old or younger they will have a blonde look to them. Oryx can be hunted year around as well. As someone already mentioned...check with your outfitter to see what they have available. Alot of exotics horn phases depends on what time of year they are born since they don't have a single breeding season like whitetails.

Think most was mentioned above. Really depends on the species, with the exception of Axis and a few of the rarer exotics, most ANTLERED exotics are in hard horn roughly on the same schedule as whitetail, but MOST rut a bit earlier (fallow, sika, elk, red stag, etc all really get going in the october timeframe). HORNED exotics can be hunted year round, but if the coat condition is a part of concern related to the specific trophy - most are in their best coats in the winter (sheep, BB, and a couple others fall into this category).

On our place, (with the exception of Axis) I typically tell people that Oct and Feb are your best times - Oct due to most of them being in rut, and Feb due to the fact that most native food sources are typically at their poorest, so they come more readily to feed. Plus most folks are focused on WT Nov-Jan and want to hunt exotics outside of that season.
