Dove hunting Granger?

Anyone Dove hunted at Granger? I've never been out there to hunt anything, I think I've fished there once. Can y'all tell me about it! Is there any place closer to dove hunt?

Watch out and wear a helmet. There are some yahoos there. Buddy of mine got peppered repeatedly last year and will not go back.

It can be good at times. With all the corn and maize being harvested in the last two weeks there are lots of birds around. Right now I'd concentrate on the North side of the lake around Willis and Sore finger.

You can hunt dove at Lake Georgetown.....gotta buy a permit for $50.

For Granger you need the $48 APH permit. I've hunted hogs over there, but never dove. I hear it gets pretty crowded the first few weeks of season though.

It's a lot of walking but you can kill some birds. Our ranch is just east. I killed 7 this morning but prolly walked 7 mi through sunflowers and corn.

For dove, the best place to go in is probably at Tejas. You can get a permit at the lake office. If you got a map for archery, its shown on there. Anywhere bit the archery only areas. I've done pretty good up by Tejas park along the river in past years.
