Anyone have any experience with them? I am thinking about having one built for myself...just want to make sure they are who I want to use before I make that monetary commitment.

I have one in 300 ultra mag built with a rem 700 action... I like it... but I think
you can get just as good a gun, and just as accurate from Hill Country Rifles
for less money.... or even from Montana Rifles....
There's also a reallynice SGY 270 in the classifieds for sale... and I think
the Kleingunther in 270 wby is coming back up for sale... two very nice
guns..

McW makes a great rifle but $3700for a "base rifle" on a 700 action is A LOT of money ..
i've built custom rifles on "custom actions" for $2100 - 2300
FYI - if you have the supplies, my gunsmith can chamber a barrel and pillar bed the action with a 2 week turnaround
the last barrel I had chambered was done in 2 days
spend your $$$ how you want as there are plenty of options available

if you WANT that rifle, than by all means get it.
but if you want sub .5" rifles, its not necessary.
most factory rifles will outshoot you.
I have and have had several <$2k rifles that shoot cloverleaves at 100m.
usually a simple bedding, trigger job and the right ammo will get you there.
listen to cajun blake, he's "been there done that"

A true action is a true action but the customs are slicker than snot on a doorknob.
Paul is spot on
Mike,
a Rem 700 action "trued" is still a Rem 700
here is the cost breakdown between custom vs. trued 700
Rem 700 action @ $400. A complete "true or blueprint" consists of truing action face, true bolt face, lap lugs, and single point cut the action threads. Some people even bush the bolt for tighter tolerances.
After all the aforementioned work is done, most gunsmiths will charge $250 to 375 to make a Rem 700 right. Add this $$ to the cost of the action and you could almost buy a custom action. Re-sale value on a blueprinted Rem 700 sucks. You will NEVER get your money back., and lucky if you get 50% return on your investment.
Custom actions have the tightest tolerances possible ; whereas factory actions are sloppy. Custom actions are priced from $800 to $1200+. If you have to sell a custom action, you will get 90% of what you paid.
If you ever shot a Jewell trigger and compared it to a factory trigger it is like night vs. day. A custom action vs. a factory action there is no comparison in the feel and cycle of the bolt.
hope that helps
