    Just try and get a seed store to get you some of the Coker Oat variety. It is more cold tolerant. You can find the same oat that is not marketed as a deer food plot oat and save some coins. That is what I do. May only save $5 a bag but when you buy a pallet it adds up.

    There are other types of cold tolerant oat as well I just can't remember them.

      I have planted both and the deer ate both. One thing about the BFO it was double the price and the deer stopped using it first cause it got too tall.

      Moose is right on...don't plant too early. I've found that they don't like it during the early season....they like it much better when it gets colder.
