    Help planning 1st elk hunt

I am going on my 1st elk hunt in new mexico in sept and would like to here from the veterans what to expect and what I should bring.
I am shooting a mathew legacy set up for whitetail, what do yall recommend for a good elk bow hunting set up. Less than 2.5 months away. thanks

What exactly is your whitetail set up? Chances are you dont need to change anything except practice out to further yards, at least 50 yards. Also, you need to get cracking on getting into shape, wear your boots you will hunt in to make sure they dont blister your feet as well carry a loaded pack. If you have any hills climb them over and over again, if not try to make it to a stair master. If you dont alrady own a pair get a good pair of 10X bino's and make sure you have layered clothing and some packable rain gear. There is a lot to think of so if I remember some other stuff I will post it later.

Start learning to call now. Mainly cow call, bugling can be over done. Get a cd/ dvd that explains how, when and why to call. I thout is wast just simple just hit the call, but I found out different situations require you to call differently.
