Smack in the middle of a refinery feeling good about all the prep work I've done the prior 4 days for Bow Season! If the honey decides we will be in town for the weekend, I might waste my buck twenty five or so (in the Katy area) to let a few round loose. I've definitely got the ITCH!
I have to go out of town Labor Day weekend - I will miss my usual hunt . So, I am taking off work the 1st and 2nd and going to the lease - I will be the only one in camp. Not expecting a tremendous number of doves around there but I will be testing the "Arbol de la Muerte" http://discussions.texasbowhunter.co...d.php?t=153736 by a tank Weds afternoon. I will also use the time to set out some cameras, put out a pop-up, cook a steak, drink a few, look at the stars and enjoy some solitude.
Public land west of Houston, in a field, holding a shotgun and watching the sky. Don't have any pictures of last year. This will be my first time to dove hunt.
In Monaville northeast of where calls will be hunting. Good luck, brother. We were limited out in an hour last year and I think we have seen more birds this year!
