How is the pay system? Do they make everyone start the same and take 5 years to top out or do they pay based on experience to start?

Do you have to have a operators cert or degree. My Dad was an operator for 30 years and retired, but doesnt have the cert. He now trains the companys new hires part time, but cant get his old job back without taking a severe paycut.

                  Exxon on Hiring

Anyone have any inside info on how many positions are available. I took the test Sept 24 and passed. Haven't gotten an interview yet. Is there still hope?

Friend of mine tested a few years ago and just got the call for an interview. I tested earlier this year and haven't been called. Some tell me it takes a while and others get called pretty quick.

Went to one down here in corpus about a year ago. It was a 2 part interview. One part mostly situational questions and the other part getting to know ya. One of the questions was "you see a coworker about to break a window out with a hammer with no PPE on, what would you do"? Another one was "what is the first thing you do when you arrive at your job site to do a job". Good luck. Your operator experience should help you.

I interviewed there a few years back, missed by one person. Behaviorial and situational based interview, and second part is a get to know you. If they ask you your past experience with a situation at work (seeing someone doing something unsafe), state the problem and have a solution to the problem. Brag on yourself, yet be a team player also. The pointer I got after my interview was that they like to hear that you volunteer your time somewhere. Like Little League coach, church activities, Habitats for humanity, etc. Hope this helps someone.
