    Peep vs Hindsight

A friend of mine just got the Hindsight for his new bow. Said he had been told a peep sight slows the speed of your arrow. Has anyone on the green screen used one and, if so, what's your opinion.

Have not used one, and yes the peep does technically slow the speed of the arrow (more weight on the string) but not enough that anybody but a hindsight saleman is going to worry about it.

I have a Hindsight (Eclipse) on 2 of my bows, it took a while to get used to it and now, wouldn't go back to a peep sight, I didn't get it because of the increase in arrow speed, but just to keep from fighting the tubing a/o movement of the peep on the string, all in all, just a personal preference.

If you are thinking about a no peep type device I would definetly give the Bow Anchor Sight a look. It helps with developing a consistant anchor point and bow torque. The dot at full draw barely fits in the circle.

I use to use a Hind-Sight but have switched to a Holographic style sight. The Hind-Sight worked pretty good for me but the Holographic is better. I still have my Hind-Sight in my box of parts.

I use the hindsight eclipse as well. I hadn't been shooting very long when I bought my first bow so it didn't take much getting used too (switching from a peep). There are allot more variables to deal with when setting one up vs a peep but once you're set it's nice. I have read complaints about the sight picture being "too busy or cluttered" and can see where that could be bothersome. Some models feature a rear sight with only one horizontal cross hair that would clean up the sight picuture quite a bit but I haven't tried it yet.

I have the rear crosshairs, but use only one forward pin, makes it easier for me, that pin is set at 25 yds.

Thanks for the input. Very interesting. Sounds like an option I might consider.

i shoot a hind sight also with the rear crosshairs it has really helped my compound shooting because of my glasses i had trouble shooting a peep sight clearly

Anchor Sight here...I love that it opens up your field of vision on the entire target/surroundings, quicker target acquisition, same EXACT anchor point EVERY TIME, and no torquing ever.
Less crap on the strings is an added bonus.

They already answered and I will reconfirm. Anything you put on your string will slow down your arrow speed. A peep, not enough for most people to fret about unless you're an absolute speed demon. I use a hindsight because of glasses that I used to have to wear. Now that I've shot it, I don't wanna walk away from it.

                      Good luck. Keep it simple.
