pop up leave up or take down

im gonna be hunting with a pop up this year. wanting to know who leaves it up and if so when do u set it up the day, week or month before season starts so the deer get used to it.

I set mine up in Sept and take it down sometime after deer season depending on my schedule and when I may be through shooting hogs for the year with an regularity. Then I pretty much use my tripod if I go hog hunting.

I set ours up in a few weeks when it cools off in the Northern Panhandle. Maybe the last few days of Sept/first few days of Oct. We brush it in with tree branches, etc, and tie it down with t-posts (learned the lesson the hard way- West Tx Wind!). We leave ours up all season, and take them down after the last hunt of the season. If the wind doesn't get them we have good luck, usually last several years.

Put it out now and leave it till Feb. or so. I put all of my equiptment to the test I guess. Of course I hunt these dang hogs year round so my pop ups are usually out somewhere.

we have left ours up for three years now in Lampasas. they are very brushed in and are holding up just fine. we use groundmax blinds. for 100-129 a blind, they have already outlived their value. but i will take it as long as they will give it

I will put them up mid Sept and wedge them back in the cedars. I will take it down late Feb...

Mine has been up for three years now and still going strong the animals are used to it and dont even pay attention to it. We have shot several deer out of it

man i would have never thought about leaving it up that long the weather doesnt destroy the cloth or fade out.

rob- yeah they fade out, but even if you put it up for a month or two it is going to fade, so no difference there. Your biggest destructive factor is going to be wind. If you can keep the wind from tearing it up, IMO they will last several years, even being outside year round. They're suprisingly resilient.

if its brushed in well, there should not be two much sun hitting it to fade it. but also, i feel taking them down and up several times is worse on the rods than anything else.

I leave 'em up unless I have a reason to want to move them.
