Got Drawn for Floyd County Hunt. Anyone been on this hunt?

I got lucky and was drawn for the Floyd County Private lands hunt. What can I expect out there? anybody been on this hunt? I can take either mule deer or whitetail buck but i plan on focusing on mule deer. Thanks for any input.

Be more specific on the "Floyd County Private Land" thing. I live up here and have never heard of this. Elaborate.

I do know that in some parts of Floyd County there are some tremendous mulies and whitetails and in some it is all cotton as far as you can see.

TPWD has a drawing for Floyd county private lands hunt. They contract with a private ranch for some public hunts. I wont know what ranch until after I send in my confirmation.

I was just curious about mulie numbers and quality. Guesss it will all depend on the ranch.

Not familiar with that hunt either. I do lots of water fowling near there, and there are more deer than folks think. Lots of muleys and some good whitetails also. Keep us posted on how it works out. If you blow through Amarillo in the process and want to swap stories pm me.

I put in for that one too, but didn't get drawn. I don't know what ranch it is specifically, but I assume it's on the Caprock. If so, there will likely be some pretty rough country. If you shoot a buck in the bottom and your pickup is on top, just make sure he's worth it before you pull the trigger.
