Was out scouting the woods today and came home with hundreds of seed ticks on me. Whats the best way to get rid of these pests..... ?

So many methods to keep it safe but I always use tweezers and then clean up with alcohol. Good luck. Im suffering from chiggers right now and in places not proper to disclose on the green screen!

Take a large Buck 110 knife that is not too sharp and start scraping. I have also followed that up with a plastic Brillo pot scrubber in the shower. Next time wear rubber knee boots.

I was wearing my lacrosse alpha's . Just got back from walmart , picked up a bottle of NIX lice shampoo. I was told by my neighbor that this stuff works good on ticks if you just soak in the tub with it.

You are in for a real nightmare. I usually take a hot clorox bath to get most of them off. Scraping with a knife is a pretty fast way to get any stubborn ones. I still dont know of anything that helps the itching though. It will take a day or two to start itching and it usually lasts about 4-5 days for me. Good luck.

              Ditto that!

When my brother and I were young kids, we'd come in out of the woods...Mom would make us run our bath water, then she'd add a little Clorox to it.......and we'd SIT and SOAK!!! (sometimes I think that's why I got gray hair so early...lol)

I still use this method.....works for chiggers too!!!

Another method for chiggers is rub after shave on the affected areas....or spray Right Guard on em.

Let you guys know the NIX lice shampoo works great on them. Now I need to remove my boots from the bed of my truck and hit them with some pyrethrum.

Ksig512- thank you so much for the timely advice. I just got into my third batch of seed ticks in the past two weeks, and they just plumb wear me out! I'm allergic to them, so as soon as I feel them crawling on me I have to make a bee line to the shower. Even then, I break out in hives and itch for 2-3 weeks, worse than any chiggers. I bought some Nix today so I'll be ready for the next time I get into them.

Does anybody have any suggestions of something I can eat that might help repel them? I spray all of my clothes with permanone and my skin with deet and I still end up with hundreds of them on me. My husband can walk through an area ahead of me, and not get a single one, while I'm covered in 'em.

                        This supposively works........

Apply a glob of liquid soap to a cotton ball. Cover the tick with the soap-soaked cotton ball and let it stay on the repulsive insect for a few seconds (15-20), after which the tick will come out on it's own and be stuck to the cotton ball when you lift it away.

I have not tried it but was sent to me from our lease manager and he claims it works
