Going to hunt unit 74 in Colorado 2nd season around the ski resort and i was wondering if anyone had any luck in this unit in the past. Not looking for any honey holes just a point in the right direction. Thanks Guys

I've only hunted it once, and suffice to say it's a good unit, but you DO need to have a game plan to hunt it effectively. Second season, there should be some good snow on the ground and will push them around a bit. If it were me, I'd concentrate on little meadows with some thick timber around and most importantly GET AWAY from the roads. 90% of the people that hunt that unit stay within 1/4 mile of the road. Do yourself a favor and either look on a map or Google Earth and find some decent clearings about 1/2 - 1 mile away from the roads.

      Good luck!

Past Purgatory Ski Area is Hermosa park and Hermosa creek. There is a bike/two wheel trail at the park that is 23 miles long. It ends in the town of Hermosa. The first 7 miles will support 4 wheeler traffic. Six miles down the trail is a draw to the south called Big Bend. Plenty of room for a camp. You can hike up Big Bend draw to hunt. About 1/2 mile up a draw comes in from the east, 1.5 miles up that draw were a couple of mimeral licks. The surrounding mountains hold a lot of elk.
Four miles down Hermosa Creek trail is Corral Draw, again to the south. The left side is steep and dark, probably bedding. The right side is easier and most drains hold licks and wallows. It is a goat trail to start out but opens to a nice valley. The first trip I had it took me 1 hour and 20 minutes to walk straight up the draw to a giant wallow and lick, The last trip took me 2.5 hours, more effort than I want to put out in my maturity.
