How do you build a custom rifle?

Other things to consider--
Do you want detachable magazine, hinged floor plate or blind magazine.
Push feed, controlled feed?
These things are important when selecting the action and stock.
Like others have said, talk to a good gunsmith.
FYI, Todd McGreedy at Euless G & A built my custom 338WSM on a Browning A-bolt Stalker. Has a Shilen barrel and is my favorite loudenboomer.

Hey Ragin,
I have an old Savage 12FVSS 22-250 with a 6.5x20 Burris that has done several of those 1 holer's in the .1's using 52gr flat base Bergers in front of 36.5gr H380 and Rem Brass/primers.
I love to shoot the thumb tacks off the targets at 100yds after I'm done grouping

clayton.... it all depends on the bolt face diameter

270, 30-06 , 25-06 , 280 , 280 Ackley Improved cartridges will all fit on the same bolt face

magnum cartridges need a larger/wider bolt face diameter

i.e. a 300 Win Mag will not work with a 270 bolt unless you open the bolt face and install a new extractor (M16 or Sako)
