    migraine help!!!

ok guys I need your input.

I think I am suffering from migraines now from research that I have done. ther first issue was a few months ago. hand went numb. then lips. then dizzyness and seeing spots, and then vommiting. then the worse headache EVER!

went to hospital. they said I had an ear infection, and probably migraines

been ok till today. Same thing. Numb hand, and then lips. dizzy and seeing spots! ***! that lasted 20-30 minutes. then the bad headache started to occur. not as bad as last time (yet)...

I do have vertigo equilibrium issues so I took my anti vert which I think has helped, and I litterally just took excedrin migraine.

Does anyone else have these struggles and experience serious symtoms?

We just lost a close freind saturday night(age 52 compared to my 26) due to a stroke because a blood vesel popped in his head. So I know I am partially paranoid right now...

BTW: numbness has subsided, and the seeing spots has gone away and I got my coordination back (couldnt hardly type earlier)... right now just a little dizzyness and pretty good headache on the top right side of my head...

BTW: when I went to the ER the first time I had a cat scan and a spinal tap to make sure things were fine... and they were...

do you have the same side effects before? dizzy/numbness/seeing spots etc...?

thats more what I am looking for. not a cure or rhyme or reason. I will leave that to the doctors. I just want to make sure that is normal for other migraine sufferers...

My better half has dealt with daily migraines for years, and yes those are all symtoms. I wish I could give you a miracle cure for your pain. But everbody is different, and we still havent got hers totally figured out.

I am sorry that she suffers like this daily. its horrible! I have only had 3 I think total (once every few months!) But when they come they seem to be bad for days!

I am just dizzy now, and my head hurts pretty bad.

There is a Sumatriptan injector that seems to be working well for people with intermittent migraines. It is faster acting than any oral medication. It is dispensed under the brands Imitrex Statdose and Sumavel. In my office, we have had great success with our patients responding well to this treatment. If problems become more frequent, a maintanance regimen of the Sumatriptan may be in order. Talk with your family doctor or seek evaluation by a neurologist in your area. Do a search for migraine triggers and you may find that something that you are eating or coming into contact with may be exacerbating your migraine problems. Food sensitivities are a known culprit, but are not always easy to discover.

I have a type of migraine called "cluster" headaches. Had to see a neurologist for classification. I have tried Amerge, Imitrex,IDA, and every otc medicine I could try. Amerge worked the best for me even tho it was not formulary for my insurance plan. Amerge worked in about 20 minutes for me. Imitrex worked but took longer, more like an hour for it to kick in.

My headaches are usually triggered by extreme barometric changes (scuba really does it badly) and / or stress. I don't get any precursors to a headache usually other than slightly blurred vision. Numbness would definitely alert me.

I would see a neurologist for reassurance and go from there.

My wife gets them but not often.

This is not medical advice just a suggestion.

The wife knows they are comming on when she start to see spots. She has about 15 minutes before everything goes. If she can pop a few asprin and drink about 1/2 a coke quickly and then lie down in a dark cool room it seems to pass.

This may not help you but it is worth a try when you are in a pinch.

Mine are infrequent, about two per year. Always involve vomiting everything I've ever eaten, and lasts about 12 hours. Nothing has worked, other than getting in a dark quiet room and letting it run its course.

The only lingering effect is that vision in one eye noticeably changed after one bad one two years ago, from straining to get the last bit of the next week's dinners out of my gut.

My lease manager suffered from them all his life up until a few years ago. He's had all sorts of tests done by all sorts of doctors/specialists. The last one referred him to an allergy doctor. Come to find out, he's allergic to brewer's yeast. He laid off all products with yeast in them, yes, including beer and has had maybe one or two a year now compared to 3-4 a month. Not everyone's migraines get triggered by the same thing, but it may be worth a shot!

good luck and sorry that's all I've got for ya....

Find darkness and stay there.... Light kills me when I encountered migraines. Don't try to do your normal daily events when experiencing the symptoms either.

I get them several times a year. I see spots or fuzz lines in my vision first. I have found that if I lay down and get in a dark room they get worst. I just work through them forcing myself not to focus on the headache it goes away more quickly.

I am not sure why but mine seem to be related to bright light. If I am sitting somewhere that has light reflecting off of a surface into my eyes it can trigger it. I have never had the numbest or vomiting.

next time I will take my excedrin migraine sooner. it is deffinitaly helping although I can still tell I have a headache. its better than it was before it kicked in...

                              thanks for the input.

the numbness does scare me the most, but doctors sites seem to say prenumbness to migraines is a known side effect.

I will check with my family doc to refer me to a nuerologist. My ENT wants me to have an MRI done next week for my ears. maybe I can get a copy forward to a nuerologist to look at.
