    shredding

what is the cheapest thing you can do to clear high grass out of areas.

Basically I'm tired of just using a trimmer for areas around my hunting stands and like around camp. Grass is too high for a mower, I'd like something i could throw on the back of the utv or atv but most that i've seen can't handle grass above like 6-8 inches.

goats? lol...not sure until you get into tractor sized mowers? They make push weedeaters that are pretty bad arse! used to use one on the farm for fence lines...it would clear baby trees out!

John Deere. I have a 4210 hydrostat. Works great in those areas where a full-size tractor is a little big.

I have the luxury of being around construction sites and have access to excess materials. But, i just made a "drag" out of a cedar beam, with two short 4"x8"x3' angle irons attached to it (lag bolted), and wrapped with a couple of rounds of chain link fencing. I drag it around behind my truck to thin out roads and lanes. Works like a champ. If you can find enough components, you could probably rig something similar to pull behind an ATV. The more weight the better. Good luck.

I saw where someone mounted three push mowers on a frame and some big wheels that were adjustable and then drug it behind his atv. He could mow the grass on the higher setting once and then drop it down and really get it short.

                            Probably not the cheapest.

                            Roundup is probably the cheapest.

Use a chain and strap it to a hog panel or part of a hog panel and it will do a pretty good job of knocking it down. Adding weight to the hog panel on the far end will make it more effective.
