I am looking at leasing a peice of property in Llano, but it has a 7 foot fence. The owner says they jump in all the time?? it is 200 acres with 7 foot fence. Will they come in if Feeders are running?

Deer jump a 7 foot fence

I planted a food plot a couple years ago that was about a half acre. I wanted it to grow pretty big before the deer got on it, so I put up a 7' chain link fence that we had laying around around it. Even with all the other food on the ranch, they were in there anyway. The bigger deer can clear it, but the fawns won't be able to. That might keep a doe from getting to far inside the fence?
I think they can clear it no problem. I'm not sure if they WILL, but I know they can.

Deer will jump a 7 foot fence - heck, I have watched them clear an 8+ foot many times. BUT, I wouldn't count on them to do it with the same regularity that they would a 4 foot fence. How old is the fence? It may not matter if it's been around a while - pig slips and such become deer highways pretty quickly.

I was quail hunting in Jim Hogg County on a place that was bordered on one side by a high fence ranch. We were driving down the fenceline following the dogs when we busted up a bedded buck. I guess between the truck and 5-6 dogs he was in full panic mode - he took a mighty leap and cleared that 8' fence, just clipping the top with his back legs. If I hadn't seen it I wouldn't have believed it.
