    building a blind/stand

if I were wanting to build a stand, box off the ground, what are some of the best ways to go....?

IE, I am picturing 1.5" or so base of four legs with cross supports, platform of 5'x5' or 6'x6', maybe 8' to 10' off the ground, for usage about 20-30 yards away from targets....

what are some workable suggestions for materials that will hold up while still being frugal?

I did a frame with pipe legs made of out of angle...just made the angle to where my blind would sit in it and I can run screws into my blind through the base...it's only about a foot tall but keeps it from sitting on ground and rotting out.

If you're building a box for bowhunting, 6'x6' is the way to go. If building a half hex or an octagonal blind you can get away with a 5x5, but it's still pretty tight.

if building your own, I can't see where saving doing a 5x5 would be worth it unless it is monetarily cost prohibitive to not go with 6...I mean 10 foot lengths might come into play but I am sure I can make use of the cutoffs......

wondering what a sufficiently stable but cheapest solution for framing...that is still pretty rigid and will last with 250 lb hunter and accoutrements inside

I use 2x2 for my framing. And you are correct, You'll use the same amount of plywood on a 5x5 as a 6x6.
