Magellan Snake Boots

Last august I bought a pair of Magellan Snake boots from academy. I wore them maybe 3 or 4 times for a few hours. So far this year I've worn them about 6 times, they're just getting broke in. Last night I thought they felt a little funny and when I took them off I realized why. The sole is pulling away from the boot. It goes from the back of the heel around the toe! I'm not even sure if it will hold if I glue it back together! I'm not happy, I really don't need the added expense of buying a new pair of boots. I guess I got what I paid for. I'm thinking about calling Academy and seeing if they'll let me bring them back. The bottoms are barely worn. Academy has always been good to me with returns.

I'll bet you can return them, Academy is just about like walmart when it comes to returns.

Mine did the same but after a couple of years of good use. Gorilla glue has been holding for me.

Take em back to Academy. If they wont take em back or dont have a reppacement pair, Gorilla glue them or take them to one of those shoe hospitals they would fix em cheap.

I have a pair going on their 3rd season and I have worn them a lot.

Academy has always treated me right as far as returns go. All they can do is say no.....laugh at you....make an announcment over the p.a. about some crazy (albeit good lookin ) woman trying to return old boots..... call the police...call the local media and have your face plastered all over the news, but hey it's worth a try.

They will take them back, I took some waders back without receipt and they asked no questions.

Magellan is an old Indian word for "disposable".

I bet if you clean them up nice they might exchange them.

Take em back and get your money then go buy a pair of the $99 Chippewas at the Justin Outlet.

I have had mine for 5 years year round useage and not had a problem. Must just be a bad pair. I had rockys that did not last 1 weekend and the side zipper ripped out. It happens to every brand. Just my opinion.

Academy will take them back, no problem!

I spoke with the manager and he said to bring them in and he'll take a look. He also said that they're pretty picky on shoe returns. I would love to get a pair of the $99 Chippewas but thats a long drive. It might be cheaper to buy a pair from Cabelas with the gas money it would cost to drive up there! I think these boots are insulated which I don't understand, they're HOT.

Update: I took the boots back to Academy, these were boots I bought last year but hardly wore. This years boots the sole is much different, more like a tennis shoe on steroids. I spoke with the manager and he said "I'll right, I'll do it this one time but I don't like to take boots back" you could tell that I've hardly worn them. I walked out the door with a brand new pair of snake boots. Thumbs up to Academy for making it right, I really didnt expect them too.
