    Review Cuddeback Capture IR

Thinking about getting some of these, Has any one tried them before? If so how did they work? Thanks!

I have 3 of the flash models and they work great. The picture quality is second to NONE, improved speed and very much improved battery life over the other models...which I have several of also. A lot of guys bash them on here, but IMHO, they are the best camera for the money.

The IR will not spook any animals, it just emits a red flash of LED's. A regular flash may bother them at first, but they grow a custom to it very fast. I prefer a flash camera for better night time pictures.

the flash are great, my friend that owns a shop put me on them, he says overall the IR's have more problems on average and pics are not as good. People will upsell all the hype on the IR's but the flash is better a night and they are not spooked, my biggest bucks have been caught at night on the flash with multiple pics. They with shoot better pics and a lot further, and an idiot could operate one.

                IMHO, they suck!!!

Great photos!! BUT battery life is TERRIBLE!!!! A camera should last longer than 3 weeks!! We have 2 of them and both are the same. New batteries every time, different batteries, doesn't matter....same result.

If you had abilityto change batteries often, then they will work for you.

Have two Captures and one Capture IR. For the money I think their the best that you'll find, although I am considering trying the little Bushnell Trophy Cam.

Neither of my Captures nor my Capture IR has performed flawlessly. They will randomly malfunction or have poor battery life. Then I'll change batteries, test the camera, and it will work fine again. Not sure what all of that is about but that has been my experience. I'd say they work fine 90% of the time but it's definitely disappointing when they don't. My experience has been that the Capture does seem to be more dependable than the Capture IR, as the Cabela's reviews indicate.

Cabela's is offering a $50 rebate on the IR. Looks like a factory rebate so I'm guessing other vendors offer them also.

Also, Cuddeback's website has updates that need to be loaded to earlier purchased models of the Cuddeback and Cuddeback IR.

While hunting I have observed the flash bothering some deer. Have had them run off for 30 yards only to come back. They are no different than people. Some things bother us more than others. Some we can tolerate and some things we can't. Having watched it bother some deer I do believe that it bothers some enough that they will avoid the camera. Have also seen mature bucks that could care less about the flash. My preference is to go with the IR and not take the chance. Mature bucks are difficult enough as it is without chancing spooking them away with a camera flash.

Thanks for the help guys, my dad went off and bought him four of these, before asking me my opinion. Just from listening on here, it seemed like the reviews were it wasnt a very good camera. But, from listening to yall, its sounds kind of mixed. For the money you pay for these suckers you think they would be awesome. I dont know wether we should take them back and get something else or just try them out. Thanks for the help everyone.
