    2006 powerstroke

I know we already talked about this, but I'm excited. I found a 2006 f-350 powerstroke for sale. For those that have them have yall experienced any problems? I mainly going to pull bassboats and cattle trailers maybe 3 times a month. What kind of gas mileage do yall get? How are these trucks as daily drivers? So for so many questions. I know this is more truck than I need, but I want it. I wise man(my father) once told me that life is too short to go through and not get the things you want. So I'm following his advice. Thanks.

I have an '06. 2 known items are oil leaks (mine had to be put in the shop @ 30k miles) and alternators.

Mike is a F350 dually 4x4 with 4.10 gears in the rear end. I get 15 around the Metroplex. I just bought a Quadzilla ZXT module. Reports are I should see a mileage increase between 2-4 mpg depending on how I drive it and I'll get an extra 65HP/165lb-ft of torque to boot.

Look the engine over REALLY good for oil leaks. Yeah it'll be covered under warranty but it sure is aggravating to have to deal with that junk.

06' F250. No problems at all...so far 27K miles. Around 14 mpg in town. I drive it everyday and still love this truck. I also pull my 22' boat, 32' t.trailer and ocassional other trailers, and never have any problems. This is my 3rd Ford PS diesel

            Mudslinger,

That is exactly what I'm looking into getting. Those trucks are sweet. What kind of milage do you get pulling that trailer?

Don't know exactly what mileage I get pulling the trailer. The only time I haved pulled it it to the deer lease in Sept and back to the storage unit in May. I plan on a good trip this summer to see what I get. The 18 mpg I got was on a trip from Lubbock to Garland averaging 75 to 80 mph on I20. All I know is, this 06 gets a lot better mileage than my old 95, tons more power and drives and rides like a car. My wife even agrees that I did the right thing by getting a new truck. Now all I have to do it to add all the goodies I want.

I work on 6.0's all the time. Here are the most common problems in no particular order.

                  1) EGR
                  2)IPR
3)Internal oil leaks(high pressure oil system)
4)External oil leaks(Modular engine that will leak from just about anywhere)
                  5)Turbo charger
                  6)Injectors
                  7)Cam sensor
                  8)Crank sensor

                  There's probably a few others I didn't think of.

                  Good Luck

                    DJM,
Do you work on all diesels or just Ford. If you work on all diesels what can you tell me about the Chevy's? Thanks

                      07 Powerchoke 35,000 miles in 6 mos.

Daily driver @ 15.5 mpg average. Highway + baby it and I may get 16.8 mpg.

Bumper pull with tractor and I get about 10
gooseneck with tractor I get 7.5mpg
                      30 travel trailer I get 7 mpg

This one does not have the pulling power my 04-6 liter and NEITHER of them has any where near the pulling power my old power stokes did.

As I left it at the dealer for service Friday the service writer told me to hang on to it since the new 6.7 was averaging 15% - 20% less mileage that what I was getting.

I'm likely to be driving a Dodge in a year!!!!!!!!!!!

I have to disagree on the part about not having as much pulling power as the older ( I assume you are talking about the 7.3L). My current 6.0 will pull circles around my '01 7.3L, even with a 60HP programmer on my 7.3L. It's been shown on paper several times that the 6.0 will out pull the 7.3L, especially on the top end. The 7.3L was a better engine but the 6.0 will out pull it.

Not a big fan of the 6.0's we have eight of them and they are nothing but problems. Love our new duramax's though. were getting about 4 more miles to the gallon pulling a 24' gooseneck w/ skid steer and other equipment.
