How many passwords do you have??

I try and keep things relatively simple, but with my job, banks, credit cards, online accounts and several webpages I use, I currently count 17 different password combinations I need to remember. And of course, the ones at work change every 6 weeks or so....bunch of crap. I resend myself an email with all my updated passwords and keep a small hard copy stashed in a safe place because, God forbid, I forget one...I'm sure someone here can beat 17....

I am not going to list them, but I just counted 31 off the top of my head! A lot of them are the same password, BUT I still have to remember which ones are which

About 10, now our work computers make us change every 90 days to log in.

Yes, with slight variations, like a number, capital this & that. Yuck....

I try to keep mine to about 3 or 4. Great iPhone app called Keeper for keeping all your passwords locked up. Only drawback is the app has a password

I am in the military, so everything takes a freakin password that has to be updated every 3 - 6 months and the ten previous ones cannot be repeated. I lock myself out of stuff all of the time. LOL

About 65 or so right now. I am the lone IT support guy at my company and I have all my employees passwords memorized plus the many that my family uses for email, bank, etc. It's funny, I can't remember family members names but I can remember all these dang passwords.

I have been applying for jobs a lot lately so my number is a little inflated but just came up with 37. I have a spreadshee to keep up with it all. Everything requires a password these days.

I have a bunch. I use http://www.passkeeper.com/ to keep track of them. Remember one password to unlock the rest. You can also move the .dat file to another machine if you want a backup of your passwords.

I have seven at work alone...

The rest are all the same, but I still lock myself out all the time.

Interesting topic that I deal with almost every day at work.

For you guys that create a spreadsheet, text file, and/or email you passwords; it takes somebody that knows what they are doing just a few minutes to bypass windows security and access your computer. There are MANY password cracking applications readily available that can get into your spreadsheet in just a few seconds.

For you guys that make it "simple" by just using one or a few passwords for all of the websites and/or applications consider this. How secure do you think that most websites are? For example TBH, why would you need hardened DOD security on a hunting website? Afterall no credit card/orering information is stored right. Well, these kinds of websites are a prime target as they do store your email address and your password. With these two items for the 10k + members on TBH I can guarantee you that I can find at least one person that uses the same password on their Bank of America account, etc.

Don't make it easy on the criminals. Use a separate password for everything that you have to log in to. Change those passwords periodically. Dont use passwords that are subject to a dictionary attack (i.e. words, names, etc.). Add in numbers and special characters to your passwords. Don't write them down. If you must store them somewhere to remmeber them, use an application with strong encryption specifically designed to store passwords. Use some form of encryption on your hard drives and flash drives.

The online criminals are always going to go for the low hanging fruit. Make getting access to your information cost them alot of time and effort and they will just go on to the next person.

Norton 360 will keep up with your passwords for web site and automatically fill it in if you want it to. Of course, it has a password of it's own to protect them.
