    BrandonA and Olddog Texoma report

Well had my 3rd weekend of good fishing. Sunday morning was the first time I had seen any sizable shad and top water action. We were by the dam and the water just started boilng around the boat. At first we thought it was just small fish then we started to notice bigger ones. My dad ended up catching a 30" 16.6 lbs on a pencil popper. Over the coarse of the weekend just fishing mornings I think we caught 26 fish. Most were in around the 20" range. Last weekend we had a 13 fish stringer of 51.2 lbs. fishing mostly live bait. This weekend 20' down over 45' of water. Last 2 weekends 50' down over 70' of water. I think the bite is going to start picking back up pretty good again. Better get out there and check it out. I will get some pictures up shortly. Sadly the 30"er I only have on my phone and don't know how to post a pic from it. I can text it if somebody will post it.

Thanks for the report. I am going to get up there hopefully soon. The striper bite has been tuff on Buchanan lately. Have been picking up limits trolling in the afternoon. This weekend I did see one group of fish surface but some jackhole on jet skis ran right through them. Get some pics up.

These were last weekend. I need to do a better job of taking pictures or figure my dumb phone out.

When I was little I stepped on a catfish and the fin buried in my foot. That has scarred me mentally. I can't stand the slimy nasty things. My problem is Riley likes to cathc those whiskered fish so every now and then I have to grin and bear it.

It was weird we were catching ALOT of little blues. Right in the middle of good striper bites. Never had that happen. It was like they were schooling with the striper. I don't really like them either. Just needed to get some bumper filets for the freezer.

I know that if I am live bait fishing and start catching cats then I pull anchor and go elsewhere.

Thats probably what I'll start doing. I just kept hearing how bad the fishing is up there right now and decided if we were on fish better stay on them.

                      Hey 3pairs,
I just got back from the coast, and saw your pm. Thanks for the info. I'm going up to Texoma, Wednesday. Got some septic tank pumping to do at the lake house. I figured that most of the action was up by the dam. It was dead the last time I was there all the way down the Red. I did see a report on Geezers that they had got into some topwater around Big Mineral.
Had a good trip at the coast. Got into some black drum schooling in a shallow trough in the middle of some flats. We were able to sight fish them from the tower on our boat. We ended up catching 38 over three days. These are really great eating fish. Fried up a mess two nights ago, outstanding.
