    Slow Flushing Toilet

Please advise on what to do, we have a toilet that flushes very slow. It takes 3 or 4 times as long as a regular toilet to flush. We have changed the the internal workings, flush valve, etc. The toilet does not change. What is our problem?

    Thanks!!!

You might have a break in the toilet casing not allowing the flush opening at the bottom of the trap to work properly.....

Possible clog in the throat of the toilet. Re-stricting flow.

Another possibility if you have hard water, is lime buildup in the holes under the lip where the water comes into the bowl from the tank--

It could be a blockage or a water transfer problem. If you want to call me, I'll explain how to test it. 817 655 3870

It sounds like a partial clog. Roots, break, paper towels, washcloth etc. Remove the clean-out cap outside the house. Check a toilet from another bathroom or a faucet on the other side of the house. The water should rush by. Then flush the problem toilet and see if it trickles by. You are clogged between the toilet and the clean-out. If the clean-out is full of water your line has problems maybe to the connection to the sewer or the sewer is clogged or a lift station has an issue. You can look into the man holes on the street to check them for clogs. If they are backed up call your sewer provider MUD, city etc.

If when flushed u don't get a good swirl take a wire clothes hanger and poke open the little holes under the rim, they can get clogged. You might have something hung up in the sharp turns in the back of the bowl, you will need a closet auger for that. I have found toys, toothpaste tubes, deoderant u name it.

Check for clogs/all of the above. The other toilet flushes good - you may also check vent pipe above that toilet. Good Luck...................keep us posted..............

Take a coat hanger and jab it into the hole that is on the inside of the front of the bowl(same side you are standing at when peeing), it is about 3/4 inch diameter. That can sometimes get glogged up. poke it good!

I've had two slow flushers. 1. the service line had severe root intrusion. To fix, have the plumber come out and chop out roots. 2. You can flush items in toilet that wont completely flush and you can't snake out. Mine was a ball around the size of golf ball. I blame my 4 yr old. I went to Lowes and got a new toliet. I didn't realize the ball was in the trap until I had dragged the old one outside and tipped it over.

We had one that started flushing slow. It was the hole in the front of the bowl that Buckrider described. If there's buildup you can feel it with your finger. Broke the buildup loose and it's fine again.

Brings back memories of unbolting the toilet and shaking small toys out of it.

Thanks for the help. We had a plumber come by the shop to buy some flooring today and he snaked the toilet for us with no luck. He is going to come back tomorrow and use his 125foot snake. Hopefully that will solve our problem. Thanks again.
