    Need Advice

Took my Truck in due to power loss the first of Febuary. Went to a shop in Corpus that I have used before and they come recommended. Well, it has been a nightmare. Took 4 wks to replace 2 burnt valves, drove it home, ran great, but next morning noticed pool on oil on ground. Went back to shop and they told me one of the head bolts was so rusty it broke. They said because it wasn't repaired, oil was seeping out between the gasket and head. I asked what could be done and they said they would try retorking bolts and see if this helped. It didn't. They tried additives to the oil, no luck. They took the truck back in at the end of Feb. as it was warranty work since I already paid the bill. I have been back once a week since then and it sits there, torn down to the block. They told me since I didn't want to pay to pull the engine and send it to a machine shop, they would try to drill and tap. April, and they said they tapped the damaged bolt hole, but was concerned that it would continue to leak due to the boken bolt on the other side. "what other bolt"? Why put the engine back together if it was going to leak. I said repair it too. Into July it sat. My wife says tell BBB or "The Trouble Sooter" guy in the local paper. I didn't want that as I was afraid of retaliation from the shop. July 31, they tapped the other bolt and had all the gaskets for repair. So I asked how long? The shop owner said he didn't know, since he was backed-up and he wasn't making any money on it. I said "I really need my truck, I'm borrowing vehicles from my In-Laws and older son. I said that I really didn't want to take legal action or something and he replied "you can push it out of the shop and take it somewhere else. I told him, "please just tell me when it will get done. He said maybe in two weeks. What do I do? I'm afraid of a faulty repair job now or to go by and find my truck locked outside the shop and parts in a basket. Need advice, please.

Good luck is about all I got. Sounds like they half***ed it from the get go.

Might try to get this thread moved to The Campfire where you might get more responce.

Get a lawyer to send this jackhole a certified letter. When he responded that he's not making any money on it, you should have told him he already made his money on it, and if he had done it right the first time, he wouldn't have this problem. He is costing you money and a lawsuit would not be unreasonable in this case.

Thanks to all for the advice. And yes I should have posted in campfire section, but I'm new to this kind of technology. I appreciate those that have responded. This is a great forum and a great bunch of people on it. Again, thanks.

I think involving the BBB is a good idea. You are smart though to not push it until you regain some leverage. I would have him repair it and then take it to a Firestone or dealership for a full inspection. They can document anything that is not repaired correctly.
