    Need some Bow string help...

My bow is about 5yrs old and the strings are just about worn out. I'm going to get new strings put on next week.

I have been told that it takes about 100 or more shots before your new strings are "broken in" and that your sights are not reliable until after this break in time.

Any merit or tips to getting back on target?

yep, gives the string time to settle in to the twists under tension of your bow. bows will have different tension than that of the maker when the string is made or pre-stretched. i will run 100-150 after installing the string to factory bow specs. then do whatever twists need to be done to keep it in specs. then shoot another 50 or so to make sure it stays in spec, then start final setup of the rest and sights.

Thanks Red, I'm guessing the bow shop will help guide me through this process of "twists" stuff etc....? After a hundred shots or so it should just be a resighting issue...

if you dont have a bow press, yep a shop is gonna have to work with you on it. if you put the strings on and twist to bow specs on ATA, brace height and cam rotation then shoot it in. it will more than likely need a few twists added to bring back the ATA and cam rotation.

Man, that is all foreign language to me....I'm going to let the bow shop put the strings on. I just wanted to know what I need to do to get it back to ready to hunt shape.

It also depends on the strings you put on the bow....I just put a set on the first of June, shoot almost every day here at house and try to shoot some type of tourney almost every weekend. I have had zero peep rotation or twist and no string stretch. Have not had to resight bow either.

not so much string creep as it would be getting everything tuned and timed especially if you have a dual cam, bianary cam bows these cams have to be synced in order to get the bow to shooting at its highest effiecency which is related to speed, but like stated above if you dont have a press or a draw board then you will need a bow shop to help tune everything
