    Feeder pen size?

After checking my cameras the last couple of times I've realized hogs are eating about 90% of the corn an protein I am feeding. I want to build a feeder pen but don't want to spend a whole lot of money. What is the smallest I could build it and still have the deer feel comfortable? Also will cowpanels work instead of hog panels $13 vs. $22. Any ideas or suggestions are appreciated, thanks.

Bigger is always better it all depends on how much you want to spend

We cut ours were you can just step over but just tall enough were the pigs can't get i'n and we built our pens 4 years ago and have had no problems

Mine is 30 panels. I cut cattle panels in half. It works well to keep cows and pigs out.

You can get a roll of concrete mesh wire for around 80 bucks (120 at lowes). It is 5' x 150', I would cut atleast 1' off.

Ask Kings X and Corn Slinger. It looks like an acre or two works nicely for them.

I use 10 hog panels making mine 160' diameter. It's is plenty big and costs about $200 to build

The last few years I had 8- 16ft panels in a circle more or less, it had a couple semi corners in it b/c I had to use trees..... This year, I increased my pen to 14-16ft panels in a circle and I am getting a lot more traffic in the pen, I have several cam pic's with 6+ deer in the pen at the same time where as in the past I might have 3-4 deer in the pen at the same time...

We have a lot of cow panels on our place, all you need to do is cut them to around 3ft tall and your good to go, the cows and hogs will stay out with them at that height, at least ours do

x2. We did this at our new lease and the pens are plenty big and the deer jump in them all day without a problem.

Here is one I put up a couple of weekends ago. I used 9 cattle panels and one hog panel. The deer typically jump in at the hog panels. I had cattle panels left over from the lease I was on that had goats.

Use at least 10 hog/cattle panels. Twenty would be better. Overlap one square and always build in a circle. When you build a pen that is too small a dominate buck can take over and not let other deer in.

For a typical set with a 600 lbs. corn feeder in it, I use 8 - 3 ft. x 16 ft. cattle panels. Just like the ones in the pic 2 above.
                          Gives plenty of room inside.

I have always heard to make the deer more at ease, It should be atleast 40'x40'

Mine is 50x50. If you use cattle panels I would suggest cutting them in half.
