    Acorns this year

Just got back from fillin' feeders out around San Saba and although it was windy and I was tired and hot, the three oak trees I checked with binoculars looked like they were loaded with little acorn husks. After the bumper crop last year I was surprised to see that.

I know different species of oaks have differing propensities to produce sequentially. Does anyone know if the live oaks are prone to produce two years in a row???

I don't know about TX live oaks would think they are a different sub species, but the ones in FL often produce good crops two years in a row. Some trees have acorns almost every year, while others seldom do.

The live oaks just west of Rio Medina at ranch I take care of up there are all loaded. Looks to be a very heavy crop on the live oaks this year.

Now here at my place in wilson county the live oaks are loaded and I havn't checked the blackjacks or post oaks. Around Bulverde where boss lives all live oaks up there are loaded so looks like for the ones hunting over feeders this year might be hard time again this year but good for deer as far as feed goes........Andy

We don't have acorns here at the lease . I had those feeder killin little son of a guns for 6 years at my old lease. This year should produce a bumper crop of acorns with the rains happening at the right time.

the oak trees in my front yard were loaded but for the last week they are dropping them big time... it sounds like rain on the porch... they wont have many come the end of summer.. the trees in the back are still loaded and so far are hanging on to them...

Been 2 weeks since I have been to our San Saba lease. I didn't notice acorns but it may have been a little early. Last years bumper crop destroyed our hunting until late season. I hope it is not the same as last year, but with all this rain, it will probably be another bumper crop.
