Galveston Trip in the making....need suggestions

Would stayin in Galveston and driving to surf side for a beach day be a good idea?

It is brand new, they just finished it right before the 4th of July. 109 during the week and 129 on the weekend. It is right on the beach. It is also attached to a pretty cool beachside restraunt.

If you want to take and rv, this place is cool. We have stayed there a few times they also have a few rooms but are probably booked. It is right on the beach and the owner is pretty cool.

THe Oceanvillage looks like it is nice and affordable. I need a cheap vacation.
That might fit the bill. Of course the family wants the Hilton (so do I!)

Your kids might enjoy riding the ferry from the east end of Galveston to Bolivar. We prefer that beach over Galveston anyway, expecially if you want to get away from crowds.

We're at Escape right now...bunches of seaweed coming ashore the last two days. Resort says it's the city's responsibility. I say b.s. If I'm in the resort biz..Imona take care of it. Seaweed lays there a cupla days and starts stankin'! Moody Gardens was good...schlitterbahn-go during the week and b there when they open.
