Good luck out there. I'm going to pass this year and let my $10 go to a good cause. I just got access to 160 acres of private land 2 min from my house (Tejas is 3 min from the house) that hasn't been hunted in over 5 years. It does have cattle but has a spring fed tank on it and a lot of Oaks. I'm probably going to be scouting it this weekend and setting up a couple of trail cameras instead.
Plus I have my stand by place in Burnet (23.76 acres and I'm the only hunter on it). Last year I saw the biggest buck I've seen in a long time out there on opening day of archery season and the last day of the extended season. He made it the whole season so unless he got hit by a car, he'll still around. :-)

I will be more than happy with the 8 or the 9. You get first shot! I would not plan on missing a day though!Oh, go get that blind today! I can most likely go with you at lunch.

Thanks,
"A" group gets to hunt the weekends in the month of October and "B" group the weekdays. In November it flip flops and in December on it is open anytime for both groups. There are a ton of deer out there, but in the walk-in areas there is a bit of pressure, as most want to make it in and easily. I would suggest that you compare their map to google earth and find a few spots you want to check out and then do some scouting. That is how I found my spot.
I sat up on a ridge for 5 evenings in a row with my wife so we could watch a big field and treeline to see where the deer were coming out. I recorded several different deer and their patterns during this time and it helped me to pick my spot. Of course, other hunters are supposed to be at least 100 yards form you, but do not get into a pizzing match with anyone, just let the rangers know if you have problems. Some will wait until you set up and then move in on you after your feeder is up and running. That is why I go way back in there, to avoid all of that.
If you have any questions, just PM me. Oh, BTW, whatever you take in needs to be chained or cabled down as their are thieves out thereAlso, your name and permit # must be clearly written on your stand and your feeder. Snipe
