Not yet, but I'm working on a new strategy (beginning with cleaning up the dozen or so old nests full of eggs laying around the yard). If I'm back here tonight you'll know I'm still waging war! Chupagallinas, huh? That sure sounds like something I ought to be afraid of. Maybe I'll carry a bigger gun tonight.

Okay, this is my third sleepless night and the sleep deprivation is starting to wear on me. I just now finally caught the chupagallina in the live trap. Being my first chupagallina I was surprised to find out how small they are. The good news is, it fit in the trap. The bad news is, they sure look alot like a skunk to me. The good news is, a .22 round to the head seems to kill them. The bad news is, they sure do smell like a skunk. The good news is, my husband slept through it all despite the fact that (more bad news) the live trap is right below the bedroom window. The good news is, I can make it to one of our hunting cabins next door where there is a spare bed, before the scent of the dead chupagallina wakes up my sleeping husband. The bad news is, there's no computer over in the cabin. The good news is, I just made a fresh gallon of scent eliminator. The bad news is, I don't think I can get close enough to pour it on the chupagallina to see if it will help save my hide. Well, if you don't read any more posts from me, you'll know that the stinky little chupagallinas won this battle as I'll be living over at camp. But at least, for the time being, the chickens are safe!
