    I Need Bow Stand Ideas

I got on a new place north of San Angelo and I have a problem... There are NO trees in the area close to my feeder to hide in or around. I don't like tent blinds 1 because I'm 6'5" 260lbs and they just aren't big enough for me to shoot comfortably, and 2 the wind may blow it clear across the ranch without me knowing. I thought about building a box/ ground blind but I really havent decided how to go about it. Any ideas would be great, especially ones with pics.

    Thanks, Steve

Dig a pit and drop a tall box blind in it. You can make it as deep as you want and you'll get super close to the animals.

Do a search in the DIY projects, a bunch of good blinds in there.

I say move your feeder towards a tree line. Even a pop up would look weird without something to break it up behind you.

The only problem there is I wouldn't have a shot at my feeder from my rifle stand. The deer out there don't pay too much attention to the blinds without cover as long as the blind has been there for a while.

I had the same dilemma when I joined a lease a few years ago. All the feeders were set up for rifle hunting - some in open areas with nothing but scrubby mesquites within 100 yards. I built a couple of permanent ground blinds and have been pleased with them other than being hot as blazes in the early season. I didnt get one of them out till September last year and the deer were back in their routine within a couple of weeks. As mentioned above there's lots of good blind ideas in the DIY forum. Octogon, hexagon, rectangular, rhombus (?) You can build a simple one for $250 or so.

Nothing like heading to Lowe's with a materials list in your pocket and a new project on your mind. Love that feeling!

Yukon Tracks makes some huge tent blind you should try. They hold up good in the weather as well. 70 inches inside axle to axle and around 7 ft tall inside. Check em out.

Get a Double Bull Dark Horse Recurve. The Recurve model is taller than a normal Dark Horse, I am 6'4" 265 lb and stand up in mine no problem.

                        KR-oldmexico,

Where do you get the Yukon Blinds? Order online? Any Texas retailers? These look like exactly what I want.
