    David Inbody

This is my first ever post and it is about my friend 1LT David Inbody. Dave and I were on a mission the other night and we came under an enemy attack in Afghanistan. Dave was in the first truck, and was struck by an improvised explosive device. He was then airlifted to base with a severe injury to his right foot. When the mission was over I got to visit Dave and he was in good spirits after his surgery. He mentioned that he was ready to see his family, and get back up in the tree stand. Yesterday he had a second surgery and Bagram Air Field and was awarded the Purple Heart. Today he is on his way to Walter Reed Medical Center in Washington D.C. Dave will need a few more surgeries and a lot of therapy, but he should be able to keep his foot.

I am a bowhunter myself, and Dave has suggested to me many times to join Texas Bowhunter, but I never got around to it. Dave wanted us to let you know how he is doing, and I will do my best to keep you posted until he can get back online. Well I am a member now, but this is not how I wanted to make my first post.

Dave and I were deployed last December to Ghazni Afghanistan to work as agricultural specialist with the Texas Agribusiness Development Team III. We are also in the same Squadron in the Texas Army National Guard. Dave has done a great job in the Army and is a bright leader. Please pray for his family, and that Dave has a quick recovery so that he can get back up in the stand and continue to serve.

Very sorry to hear about David's injury but the good news is he will be getting very good care and rehabilitation. THANK YOU to both of you for what you are doing. Words here can't adequately express the proper gratitude for the sacrifices you are making. Thanks for posting this information and welcome to TBH!

                            David Inbody

Welcome to the fire Matt! Your report brings great relief.

A lot of this still seems like a dream. As you know, they don't make men better than Dave. Its not easy to adequately describe what he means to those of us fortunate enough to have a personal relationship with him. We are blessed with a large family and Dave is a vital part of that. As you can see, this ever expanding community is serious about supporting our own. You now share this same support. Thank you for your service, your report, and willingness step to the fire.

Dave was supposed to be away from combat. I figured he was going to document and share the stories of a messed up part of the world. I was confident that in time he'd be home ready to share the real story with the same smile and integrity he's always had.

Now he has seen the dark side of war from a vantage point none of us dared to think was possible. He has a purple heart. He has new a new mission ahead of him that will require the same dedication and strength that he's always shown us. Thank God it was not worse.

Please continue the reports. Keep the channel open and find strength in the support.

No question, we owe you. Hopefully you can join us next March for our annual "family picnic" we call Bownanza. More about that later. For now, again, welcome to the fire.
