    Boots?

Less tha 2 months to go before my 1st ever Muley hunt out in Colorado, My question to the GS is what is the best all around un-insulated boot for the Mountains in mid-Sept? I have a pair of 400 gr Redheads that I have wore in very nicely over the past 2 years that could be my primary/back-up so I just want an extra pair, whats your take?

I know it's crazy but I've always worn Red Wing lace up boots, LaCrosse rubber boots or Chippewa Snake Boots. I have a pair of Cabelas full leather lace up hunting boots (don't remember the model #) that are 400 grams Thinsulate for when it's cold. I can tell you I've heard nothing but great reviews on Danner boots and I'm considering getting a pair of them. Now would be the time to get them so they're broke in.

Lowa renegades. Lightweight, quiet and comfortable.

Not sure if you are talking about the slip-ons. I will be from 8500 to 12k up the side of a mountain. I was looking into getting a lace up 8" or better boot, probably uninsulated and light.

                  Danner but they run narrow!

I can not recommend Rockies. They left me up on a mountain in Co with half a sole, not a good thing on a elk hunt.

I use the Mindel's and they work nicely for my elk hunts in Colorado. The Lowa boots are about the same. These boots provide a lot of ankle support. The last thing you want to do is twist an ankle ay 11,000feet and try getting down.

Danner, they are worth the money if you plan on doing lots of walking in the mountains. Very light weight and comfortable!

Search TBH for Pronghorn and you'll see lots of guys like them, me too. Great boot for Sept CO hints. Invest in good wool socks and liners too it makes a difference. Buy a hydration bladder for your backpack too.
