    Dodge 5.2 liter engine

What kind of experience have you guys had with the dodge 5.2 engine. I am thinking about buying one and I an wondering how long the engine will last if it is properly taken care of. The year model is a 2000.

I have a 98 Jeep Cherokee Laredo with a 5.2 and 250K. It still runs like a top. No issues what so ever.

Incidentally, it also gets much better mileage than I ever expected of a Mopar product. 17.5/19.5 But I drive like a grand maw.

On that model it wasnt the engine so much as the Tranny u had to worry about. If its a auto, figure on a new one at about 150000.

Only thing I hear bad is transmissions...never heard too much about engines

I had a 1997 Dodge Dakota with a 5.2L V8 and loved it. Never any problems over the twelve years I owned it. I have a 2008 Dodge Durango and wish it had a 5.2 instead of the 4.7L it has in it.

Had a 2001, I bought brand new. Never had any engine or transmission repair done on it. Only did maintenance (spark plugs, oil, etc.)-I sold it last year with 140,000 miles on it. Wasn't acting up or anything when I sold it-just thought it was time to get a newer truck. G.L with your search.

The intake manifold is 2 piece. The bottom plate(plenum plate)is prone to leaking and sucking oil into the intake. The heads are prone to cracking. They will go forever with both these issues.
