Whoa.... that's really scary. There was a time when Windows struggled with security clearance requirements and Solaris ruled, times changed, maybe its time for them to change back. Maybe its time for some Bastille hardened RedHat or Enguarde Linux

MS gives to source code to governments but to give it to the Russians is plan stupid!! Like the article states, if they give it to the ruskies, give it out to every IT dept. to stop the attacks that are coming...

Didn't know they had been doing it that long. "A year later, the company announced its Trustworthy Computing Initiative". Key word, trustworthy...

Cisco ASA's keep the bad guys away. There isn't a single network operating system out there that can sit out in an unprotected DMZ and not get hammered.

Firewalls with VLAN segmentation from DMZ to internal LAN...it's the only way to fly.

Microsoft has to ensure their source meets strict security requirements of each individual government. Security of the OS itself is only one layer of access.....encryption algorithms not exportable from the US to others is never shared. If one is uncertain about access to Windows systems....stick a big UNIX box between Windows and the Internet and let it ride point.

there have only been a handful(literally) of known viruses for UNIX and a properly secured UNIX box will STILL operate faster than ANY windows machine running wide open
