Can onyone in Lubbock recommend a good mechanic?

My son who is in Lubbock needs a mechanic. He drives an older Ford Explorer and the gas gauge quit working several months ago. He's been able to keep from running out of gas - till last night. I'm guessing it is probably a sending unit/float problem which involves dropping the tank. If that's what's wrong it's going to be pretty expensive - especially if he takes it to the Ford dealer. Just wondering if any of you Lubbock guys can recommend a full service type mechanic he could take it to. I'm hoping for more honest and less expensive?
