Anybody used the rice bran feeder?

Seen some rice bran feeders made by on time feeders at cabelas that would feed up to four times a day, just wondering if anyone had tried them. I think it would be a good idea if they work as advertised. I usually feed it free choice but they either eat it all too fast or it gets rained on before they eat it and it is waisted.

If they are the feeders that open at a certain time and then close they will not hold up the cattle and hogs.

I don't know anything about the feeder but I have been told deer will absolutely destroy rice bran. It is supposed to be a common carrier for all these deer attractants like c'mere deer. A biologist w/ a phd told me the rice ban was what the deer were comming to eat and I think it may be cheaper than protien.

Rice bran is around 8 bucks for 50lbs. That is if you dont buy the high dollar stuff they make for horses, and yeah they tear it up I just want to find a better way to feed it.

That is one of my concerns. I would not think the batteries would last long. I dont understand why they didnt use a 6 volt when they came up with the design. I dont guess anyone has used one I guess I may have to be the first to try it.

8 C cell batteries = 12 V. I would be willing to bet that with a little extra wire and a soldering gun, I could make it run on a pair of 6V batteries. Only problem I see would be too much amperage, might have to wire in a resistor or some kind.

I wonder if it's like other On Time feeders that the batteries last forever.
