...I've got to give credit where credit is due and appreciate good work. Some of you may remember about a year or so ago I did a website for John Campbell over at Triple C welding in exchange for a pit. He highly outdid himself and built me a pit he claimed "will last longer than I will". I think he may have been right. This pit is far bigger than I would ever need, and yesterday it was the last thing between me, and being done with moving. I rallied up the troops, about 7 guys, after much grunting and "3-2-1 lifting" we loaded this haus into the back of my buddy's truck. As we went to pull away I asked, "do you think we should tie it down?" The answer was yes, the response he gave me was "na, it'll ride, we don't have far to go".
I think we all know where this is going now, about a 1/4 mile into our 2 mile trip a guy runs a red light causing us to swerve, then correct ourselves and out goes my pit, over the side of the truck and crashing into the street. I see all of this through my friend's broken side-view mirror and almost in slow motion I see my pit hit the pavement and slide across the street.
We stop, get out pick this huge pit up, wait for the rest of the gang and proceed to check it over. Aside from a little paint missing on the corner of impact, a bent smoke stack cover, and a slightly bent handle this thing is good as new. I thought for sure I'd be picking up pieces, but everything remained intact.
If anyone needs a BBQ pit, or a tank for that matter, get with John, he'll do you right...I called him last night to tell him about the spill and he put me in charge of product research and development for Triple C Welding.
