Wharton Fireman killed in line of duty

We had a REALLY BAD one today.
I could heard several of our crews over the radio that the heat was extremely bad. ZERO visibility. They had been inside what seemed like forever. Noone could find the seat of the fire, yet outside it was blowing out of windows fiercely. Chief made a PAR check and told our guys to find interior shelter and protect the interior exposures........another crew entered a line from back of house and knocked down main body of fire. I was thinking of the Wharton tradgedy for awhile until I saw my crew and several others finally make it out. I dont think Ive ever seen so many crews as today that were beat up that bad. They made a tremendous stop on the fire and contained it to an old addition to the back of the house. There was a real long 20' narrow hall way only 2' wide were they got pinned down that acted as a big heat torch just blowing all the energy from that fire straight up the hallway. Hearing many of my friends / brothers over the radio taking a beating in there was hard to listen to. I was stuck outside pumping the truck. It was very frustrating to say the least. I cant imagine how the Wharton guys must have felt or what they went through that day. I hope none of us have to go through that, prayers again to the guys and the Capts. family.
