Excellent job on the second one.

The first one looked like it just got soething up the keister and did not know if it liked it or not. The second looked normal.

Either way, both the deer are fine animals. Congratulations on you rkills.

I'm not sure I didn't mount that first one in 1988

Here is the problem I have with the Taxidermist at the moment.
Kill a deer, take it too him in 2008, deer cost $425.
Kill a deer, take it too him in 2009, deer cost $500.
Kill a deer, take it too him in 2010, deer cost $600.

And that is not just mine, that is all of them. I understand that you give yourselfs raises, but every year? And when will it stop? It is crazy. Yes I know you get what you pay for, but It is getting to were the good ones are getting so high, that the crappy guys can now make $400+ on theirs.. I also know that the price of the mount did not go up that much, nor the eyes, or the tanning. Yes, there might have been an increase, but not that drastic year over year.

Sometimes the purpose of the price increase is to cut down on the number of heads a taxidermist takes in.

Sometimes a taxidermist will start out low in an attempt to attract more new customers, then once his name gets out he will gradually raise prices to where they should be.

Sometimes the higher prices are used to attract the more discerning customers.

Sometimes a guy just wants/needs to make more money.

IMO, back in 2008, $425 was way too low. A guy really needs to be charging a minimum of $550 to make a living. Sometimes taxidermists want to do a little more than just make a living. If a guy is GOOD, $600 should now be a starting point.

The insurance industry does the same thing look at some of the history of your clients.

It's hard to have a mount on the wall you don't like. It seems to irretate you every time you look at it. Get another cape and have it remounted. But I have to say those are both really nice deer!

The second one looks pretty nice!

I went through almost the same scenario a few years back. The mount I had was almost identical looking to yours. Last week I finally had enough of looking at that ugly thing and removed the antlers from my mount. I did keep the mount and am looking for somthing funny to put on it, because it's so terrible that you think it must be a joke.
