    Bushnell Game Cam Review

I got onto a new lease this year and went looking to get a cheap camera to set up on my second feeder. Anyway I ran across a Bushnell Trail Sentry at Acaddemy on sail for $79 so I thought no matter what Im not out that much money so what the heck. Anyway, after a couple months I wanted to post my opion/review on this camera.

    CON's:
    -Flash sucks
-Grain pics because of low resolution
-Battery life is marginal, it take 4 D batteries
-hard to figure out how to operate initially
-can not change the delay setting, it has a 30 sec delay

    Pro's:
    -Great trigger response
-I like the mounting strap it comes with
-It takes lots of pics, unlikely my moultrie

    Still Pending:
-I want to try and figure out how to mod this camera to take a rechargible 6Volt battery and solar panel.
-I would also like to try and figure out how to mod it to enhance the flash if at all possible

Here are a couple examples of a day and night time pics

We used one at Ben's last year and we got very good looking pictures during the day. The flash is not any good and it takes a ton of pictures. It would not be a good camera for sitting on a feeder, but a great one for putting on a trail. The trigger time is awesome compared to the other cameras on the market. I think it is a great day lease camera when you are using it over a short period of time at several spots instead of leaving it out for two weeks at your lease. I give it a thumbs up.

From what I am picking up through the reviews and other camera manufactures is that fast trigger speed = short battery life. I am not sure why but I have seen it mentioned more than once. I have two Leaf Rivers and their new one has a switch to move it between fast trigger speed and normal. In their documentation they say the faster speeds draws more amps because it has to be at the ready, no warm up time.

well I also attribute the poor battery life to the 30sec pic delay that means it can take way too many pics of the same animal and especially if its at night and the flash keeps going off.

I have 2 of the Bushnell Night sentry’s and I will agree that the batteries do not last very long. I get 4 weeks out of a set of 4D’s and in that month I will get about 1000 photos. There are not a lot of adjustments on the camera but I like it that way. I did not have to open the book to set it up they are very easy. I have a Leaf River also and to me it is very hard to set up. I have put both the Bushnell side by side and the Bushnell will take 3X more photos the Leaf River. Now the Leaf River does not eat batteries but I would rather get photos then a camera with the batteries still full. And to me the photo quality may not be the best but it tells me what’s going on.
