Had a great weekend with my aunt, uncle, and my kids out at Gatesville. Bone dry last year not a drop of water on the place during deer season. What a difference 6 months and some rain makes:

Previous landowner said there were a couple of springs on the place that ran all the time when he was a kid, but had been dry for several years. Well, one was running again and we found it:

Bunch a rednecks coolin off:

I got in a short hunt saturday evening with really good results. We have had a group of 5 young boars roaming the place together for months. About 6pm one of them showed up by himself. I popped him and after 15 or 20 minutes, I decided to go on an head back to camp and get him on ice. I was well into cleaning him before I realized I didn't get a pic. Anyway, got him in the cooler and about 8:30 I decided to head back out and see if any more piggies were on the move. I parked about 150yrds from my uncles feeder aand grabbed my .243 and headed down the path. There were 3 young boars eating corn. I got to about 75rds and decided to take one. I dropped the first one. The other two didn't run very far, so I dropped another. The third really didn't try to run off, so I dropped him too. My gamecam shoowed that the 5 little boar showed up about 30 minutes after I loaded his 3 buddies up. I guess it was his lucky night! I did get an "after pic" of the 3:

I was thinkin, "4 hogs in one night, not bad!" Then I check out the cam pics from the feeder from the day before. I think I still have some work to do. I can count 26 in this pic....and I assume there are some pigs out of the frame!
