R.I.P Manute Bol

Manut Bol died today from kidney failure at age 47. I remember when he first started in the NBA - 7" 7" and so skinny he looked like he was made out of pipe cleaners. Awesome shot blocker. What impressed me most about him was how atypical he was for a pro athlete. No "posse" - no gaudy mansions or flocks of bimbos. He died almost broke but for a different reason than most - turns out in the 10 years he played he sent almost all his money back to help people in his native Sudan. That's where he has spent his time since retirement, trying to help his impoverished and war-torn countrymen. R.I.P. Manute.

One of the strangest looking characters ever to step foot on the court (behind Rodman). So thin, he looked breakable. But he blocked over 10% of the shots ever attempted against him (NBA record). Sorry to see him pass so young.

Never followed him any.

But one of the funniest things I have ever seen on tv involved him. Was a show called celebrity fights.
They matched Manute against William the fridge Perry. I figured perry would whoop him good. But Manute actually won the fight. Was the worst fight I have ever seen in my life. I bet my grandma when still alive at 95 coulda whooped either one of em . LOL

Didn't watch him much but I heard when his team would blow another team out they would let him attempt 3s late in the game. That must have been a sight to behold!
