    Fence Measurements

Anyone put up barb wire fencing? A roll of wire is supposed to be 1320 ft. So I do my mesurements and make sure to have a tie off at 1300 ft leaving extra for tieing off at 2 mid posts.

First roll I have 20 feet extra, 2nd roll is 1 foot too short and have to rig it just so I can tie it off. Where is the quality control?

    Did you stretch it?

Where is your material manufactured? Maybe a better way to phrase it is, Did you get what you paid for? Usually, we do get we pay for. If we go cheap, we get cheap.

      I don't know. Just a thought.

I'd roll it up and take it right back!

sounds like it is right at 1.5% on the long side, and 1.5% on the short side....swing of 3% should be allowable with a material that stretches like that....

I often forget how to measure when I'm dealing with *%^&^ barbed wire in the heat, so I can understand.

I guess the rule is to assume it isn't brain surgery and be willing to lose a few feet.

I bought at Tractor supply the Oklahoma brand which fence people told me was good brand. It was the more expensive roll there. Other rolls were not that short.

Next time I will know to make the fence a little shorter, but then I hate having all the left over wire.

That's the stuff I buy at TS, too.

It doesn't really have much stretch (at least not like gaucho wire!)

Yep just back up a lil ways and make a splice in the wire. Simple fix. Not sure about it being shorter though!!
