Talk is cheap I guess we all can say do it quick and we all have our version of the perfect kill. But if we all were on death row the attitude would change if we were the ones being put to death. But one thing I know is this. In this country we are free free to make our own destiny if you are in front of a firing squad you put yourself there no one else did. You can read all of the religion into it that you want but in the end the LAW Of THE LAND is still AN EYE FOR AN EYE.

A Utah death row inmate who would become only the third person to die by firing squad in the US
He shot and killed somebody- only fair that he is shot and killed.

"He asserts that executing him now, after nearly 25 years on death row in Utah, so lacks retributive or deterrent value that it violates the Eighth Amendment," A federal judge late Tuesday refused to block it, after Gardner claimed the procedures related to a two-day commutation hearing held by the board last week violated his civil rights.
Violated his civil rights? Sorry, but you forfeited your Rights when you murdered someone. You violated THEIR right to life and liberty, and you expect to be afforded rights to life? No thanks.

He claims he is a changed man, and should not be executed for his crimes.
Decisions have consequences. Who cares if you're now a changed man? You MURDERED someone.

His dinner included steak, lobster, and vanilla ice cream.
This makes me very angry. Did his victim get to pick his last meal? Did he get to say goodbye to his family? Did he have attorneys and the court system fighting to save his life? H NO. He was brutally murdered! And then we keep this pos alive for 25 years, wasting hundreds of thousands of dollars in taxpayer money, and now there's a huge fight if it should even happen or not? Stupidness.

Gardner's childhood, which was punctuated by poverty, abuse and neglect.
And? Thousands of kids are abused and neglected every day, but this is no excuse for killing someone when you grow up.

Five anonymous marksmen will use matching .30-caliber rifles. None of the riflemen will know who delivered the fatal shot.
If they can volunteer for the job, they can handle knowing that they killed someone.

The inmate is blindfolded, strapped to a chair and a target pinned to his chest.
Take the blindfold off and let the punk face his executioner. Did his victim get to put on a blindfold? No.

Lethal injection remains by far the most-used execution method in the US
Unfortunately. They should die by the means which they killed to put themselves in this position. If they strangled someone, they should be strangled. If they shot someone, they should be shot. If they raped and beat someone to death, they should be.. well... um... ... beat until they are dead.

            This whole thing is stupid.

I think they should bring back the firing squad here as well.. DEATH BY FIRING SQUAD is perfect justice as long as the firing squad are all armed with gamo air rifles.. take as many shots as you need to kill them..

They dont shoot from the same point. 8 yds away. Different angles. Chest is at least 8 inches from the wall. I'll take that group any day.

                          results are the same...

I agree about the angles. Timing 5 shots is not going to be as easy as it sounds and there will be a flinch factor even at 20ft. Bullets also do some funny things in micro seconds as soon at they impact.

I'm sure many of us have shot a critter standing what appears to be prefectly broadside, only to have the exit at a goofy angle.

The angle makes sense. Still got the job done clean.
They used 5 Winchester Model 94 30-30s with 158 grain Ballistic silver tips

LegDog, all i can say is OhhhhhRahh!!!!! During my time, for every one that was on Death Row, i could think of 50 more that should have been. And this dude has been there for 25 yrs, sounds like that was 24 years and 11 months too long.
