    Transient Ischemic attack (TIA)

Has anyone else had one and did you have a full blown stroke later on. Tuesday of this week I was checking on some jobs I had going and suddenly did not know where I was. Where I was going. Where I'd been. I couldn't talk and was very disoriented. I managed to text my wife and was able to get home. I just shrugged it off as fatigue and heat exhaustion. Well I've been having alot of weird pains and alot of confusion so I went to a care now just to check and make sure I was ok that's when I found out they think I had a TIA. I just turned 45 and have high blood pressure. You think with a family history of stroke and heart attacks I would of taken this more seriously. I had a huge wakeup call and I'd better change my lifestyle or I won't be around for the wife and kids. Please pray that I can have the strength to lose my weight and get my bp under better control. Thank you

Man, don't screw around with TIA or stroke symptoms. Make sure you follow up with the doc. It's hard to lose weight and eat healthy, but you have to decide you are going to do it or pay the toll.

We on the green screen are here to support you. Best of wishes. Do it for your family.

Did they put you on any meds and are you on an ASA (Aspirin 81mg) regiment yet? How about your cholesterol and Triglycerides? Are you diabetic? Does it run in your family? did they check your blood sugar?

Many more basic questions and some labs could answer much better than a general practitioners best guess.

I would see your personal PCP asap and get labs for more educated guess, and see a specialist depending on test results. I'm 44. A Paramedic and experienced flight medic of 16 years and thought I was perfectly healthy myself until I had my "episode" Then I found out I was hypertensive, diabetic, high cholesterol, dangerously high triglycerides (2,771 last check, normal is below 250!) some of my labs they just say they are to high to get a reading A ticking timebomb my PA said as she passed me off to a specialist, which was best best thing that ever happend actually.

My point......dont let these things go! Get it taken care of IMMEDIATELY! Like tomorrow.....ASAP, whatever. Be glad you are here to still have the choice in your care. I worked with a lady just recently that is in her mid forties and had a massive stroke and is now in a nursing home for rest of her life because she can not feed, bath, or use restroom by herself.

Do the right thing my friend...make the call.

Whoa!! Be careful and do what you need to do (you know what it is). I was recently inspired by Heath to lose the 30 lbs I have been needing to lose and I'm a 21 lbs. lost so far. Heart attack is genetic for me on both sides of my family. Eeeeeeeek!! Do what you gotta do!!!

Last year I had two...6 days apart. Was not fun and I am healthy as a horse! Doc told me to watch it close cause there was a risk of a full stroke in the future. Mine were stress related due to the break up of my wife and I and a custody battle for our son. Ive been fine every sense, so just take care of your body AND you mind, and we'll pray that everything will be fine with ya.

I had 2 in a 8 hour period over the thanksgiving weekend. And was hospitalized for 3 days. My Blood pressure was 207 over 107 when I got to the hospital.
See your doctor and follow his advise. The biggest thing for me has been to quit smoking.
