Oral Board Interview Temple PD today

I have my board interview for Temple PD today @ 2:30. If you have a spare moment, and don't mind, I could sure stand to have a prayer lifted up for me.

Also, if you have ever been through one, I would appreciate any pointers that you may have. I have a pretty good idea what to expect, but I never turn away advice (especially free advice).

    Thanks for your support,

    Casey

Don't be too anxious to blurt out an answer to the questions. Take a moment and think about what you're going to say.

They'll be looking to see if you can make decisions. When you answer the questions and they challenge you on your answer, be prepared to defend it.

Expect to be asked some of the same questions several times in different contexts.

Just relax and engage the conversation. Don't get rattled.

      Good luck.

Thanks Guys! I appreciate the support.

That is what I have heard so far. Since I am not certified yet, they may still give me some scenarios, just to see my reactions, and then ask several times to justify my answer, and allow me to defend my decision. I have been told this allows them to feel you out on your decision making, and sticking to your guns about a decision. I appreciate the insight.

I have set on the outher side of the table many times. The best one peice of advice I can give you is this.

Be yourself, not what you think the board/PD wants you to be.

            Also,

Dont give an answer, then when asked similar questions in a diffirent context You stick to that one answer for fear you will look unsure of yourself.

Answer each qeustion in the context it was presented.

They are not looking for robots. They are looking for free thinking, adapatable individuals.

Prayers sent...let us know how it goes.

Thanks, and I will keep everyone posted as to how it goes, and the progress. I have my polygraph on thursday, but I have been ultra honest so far in my background, that I do not feel any insecurity at all about it.

Sorry for the delay. I have an unhealthy baby at the house, and last night was not a night I want to remember.

They offered one conditional employment to the top recruit. I am #2. We run 2 academy's a year, so I am looking at going through academy starting in January 2011.

Everything was as expected. I was very honest in my answers, and thought through all of the questions. The only on that stumped me was when they asked for my worst character trait. Heck, I am trying to sell myself, I didn't want to rat myself out about anything, then I drew a blank and could not think of anything bad/negative about myself. One of those moments I needed to phone a friend, and let my wife get on the phone, I am sure she could rattle off more than a few.

All in all, it went really well. I am still sitting in a very good position, and I will be able to finish up the year with the company I have been working for, for 15 years, and get to cash in my vacation and sick time before starting the academy.

Thanks to you all for the prayers, and thoughts.
