    Anybody have Coyote Calling tips?

I've had a Johnny Stewart digital caller for several years that has been out of the box once to test it. I finally have a little free time nowadays, so I thought I'd take it out and try it. I have all the rabbit distress calls, etc that come with the calls.
I would like to take a coyote w/ the bow. I have a couple ground blinds that I can set up in. I was considering trapping some rabbits to use as bait, would this work? Or just use the caller?
I see coyotes every day while checking cattle, so I know they're around. I just have never tried to call one in.
Anyway, any suggestions would be appreciated- thanks in advance guys & gals....

Whatever you do...do not take your wife's favorite cat to the woods and tie it to a fence post and start calling. You will regret it. Just sayin'.

^Lol- that's hilarious. My wife hates cats- her policy is SOS (shoot on sight)

I wonder if I put her zebra stripe purse out there if it would fool a coyote? He might think he died and went to Coyote Heaven (africa) and now he gets to eat a zebra and then THWACK!!!!!!!

Might be tough to get one in bow range. I have a hard time getting them closer the 50-100 yards. Maybe you can do better, I am no pro.

My wife has a maltipoo that she took the the deer lease once. She tied it up to a tree while eating dinner. The dog was barking the whole time. I got fed up with it so I shined my light over to it to yell, and there were eyes all around. I quickly got up and put it back inside. Needless to say the dog wont be back at the lease.

First and foremost...WIND. Pay attention to it and watch downwind. 99% will circle downwind to scent check. If you'll wait a bit though..this years pups will be out and about and you can definitely find some dumber ones..!!

it's a POS dog that wont house train for anything. I can take it for a hour long walk. We come in and it looks at me a pee's on the carpet. Dont think I havent thought twice about taking it out with me on a varmit hunt!!!!!

I like to call coyotes in the morning between 6:30-8:30 for the best results, I think rabbit distress calls are the best to use and I've also heard good things about the decoys with a tail that flop around, although I've never used one.

Now getting them into bow range is gonna be tough, not impossible but tough. They are smart critters and wind can play a huge role, be as scent free as possible and play the wind. Best other advice I can give is be on you guard, the second you look down they'll be there and gone. I also don't stay in one place more than 30-45 minutes, if they aren't coming up quick in my experience they aren't coming.

rabbit call and pup in distress should work good about now. i would take a rifle along in case they dont come in to bow range you can still get a shot. like the others said watch the wind and call early and around dusk when it is not to hot. have fun and good shooting!
